About Abilities Foundation

Abilities Foundation is a uniquely developed institution which caters specifically to young adults with disabilities in Jamaica. We provide our students with the training and support needed to become productive members of the community.

Entry Requirements

  • Must be 17 years or older
  • Passport or ID
  • PATH registration number (if applicable)
  • Able to read and comprehend at Grade Seven Level
  • Registered with the Jamaica Council for Disabilities
  • Other Vital documents

Student Activities

Students are encouraged to get involved in his or her community, to exercise their talents and hone their skills through the following clubs and activities:

– Arts and Cultural Showcases (JCDC Competition)
– Clubs and Societies, including 4H and Aktion/Kiwanis

Counselling and Mentorship

We cater not only to the academic growth of our students, but also their emotional and social well-being. For this reason we ensure that counsellors are available to offer the students guidance and support. Through our Job Placement Unit we are also able to provide our students with job placement opportunities, coaching and mentorship to ensure that when they graduate from Abilities Foundation, they will be able to be more self-sufficient and contribute productively to the society.

Student Outreach

Trainees are encouraged to adopt a voluntary spirit. Therefore, they are required to perform a minimum of twenty (20) hours in volunteer service. This programme not only provides them with invaluable experience but also helps to develop a sense of responsibility.

Enterprise Activities

As a component of our trainee’s practical experience, they contribute to the development of Abilities Foundation signature products. The production and marketing of these items are utilized to generate revenue for the programme areas.

– Terrarium
